Accounting is the process of collecting, summarizing and analyzing the financial data of your business. Every business needs do keep on top of their accounts to ensure proper management of revenues and expenses. Failure to do so could cause your business to fail.

There are two ways of keeping accounts for your business, one is enlist the help of an accountant and the other is to buy some accounting software and manage the accounts yourself. Lots of people are worried about accounts and tax and would rather pay for an accountant to do all the work for them, however this might suit some people but not everyone. With hiring an accountant this will be quite costly and the cost will depend on the size of your business and the amount of financial data it generate. If you are just starting up a business you could collect all of the information and hire an accountant once a year. Most accountants work on an hourly basis so depending on how long it take them to work out your accounts will depend on how much you have to pay them. If you keep all receipts and invoices in date order this could keep your accountant fees to a minimum.

Another option is to invest in good accounting software. You do not need to have any knowledge about accounting as most good software is very easy to use with simple steps that anyone can follow. More and more business are using accounting software as the price of an Accountant can be quite steep whereas accounting software is a one of payment. There are lots of different types of accounting software for small and larger business and for lots of different types of businesses. Some accounting software can work for all size businesses with modules that you can add as your business grows and your accounting needs grow.

Some of the many benefits of having accounting software are:

Saves time

Saves money

100% Accuracy

Up to date accounts always available

Quick access to information

They are just a few of the reason why accounting software is best option for any business. Accounting software will make your business management much better, much more efficient and easier. You will be able to access the up to date data with a simple click of the mouse giving you the competitive edge that all business need to have in this day and age.

Choosing the right software is a very critical. You should always do your research before you buy any accounting software. With the internet it is not a problem as you can find reviews, websites and talk to users of software to find the best one for your particular business. I would talk to many different users and read many different reviews and then weigh up the benefits of each. Once you have chosen the right one then your business can grow and expand without any worries about finances. The software will free you time up so you can get on with your job.

PostHeaderIcon What You Need to Know About Business Bank Accounts

Are you applying for your first business loan? Did you just start a business and are thinking you should open a business checking or savings bank account? Do you already have a business bank account but you aren’t happy with it, and wonder if you can get a better deal? Here follows some information you should know.

If you own a business, banks want you. As long as the risks associated with your business are not noticeably high, banks will be happy to take you on as their customer because businesses usually make more profit than individuals. Before you commit yourself to one bank, research your options. Could you be getting better interest on your loan? How do the fees compare from this bank to that one? Are you getting a fair deal?

Business loans

Let’s begin with the business loan. To really grow your business you will need a chunk of money, and for most of us this means borrowing from the bank. If you have been saving up and have sufficient resources to grow a successful business, ignore this section.

Taking out a bank loan for ten or a hundred thousand can be scary. But look at the potential payoff. If you really believe in your business and have a proven track record of success that indicates future success, consider investing in a loan.

Go into the loan process well informed about what you are getting into. The bank will be using a loan origination system to decide your loan eligibility, along with an advanced software application known as the business process management tool.

Before committing to a loan your primary question should be, “what is the lowest interest rate I can get?” Don’t be afraid to bargain with your banker. Although this is not typically expected (we weren’t taught in school to question bankers), business savvy people do it all the time. Get out your negotiating skills. Let the bank know that if they don’t come down on their interest rate you will take your business to another bank. This leverage is often enough to stimulate a change, however small, in your rate. Be sure to have numbers on what competing banks offer.

Maybe your bank is already giving you the lowest interest rate on the market. Also, consider that a bank with incredibly low interest may be too good to be true. Such below market interest rates could indicate instability at the bank. Beware of small independent banks without a long history, as they could be on the brink of going out of business.

Business bank accounts

The only requirement for business bank accounts is business registration with the government. You may be a sole proprietorship, general partnership, limited liability company, corporation, association or nonprofit organization. All can qualify for a business banking account.

Setting up the bank account is relatively easy: Just bring your business license and relevant tax identification papers. The real question is which bank is best for your business account?

For a business checking account at my bank, I must keep a minimum of $1,500.00 at all times, or else they ding me with a $7-per-month fee. What advantages do I get from the business account? Well, looking through the papers they gave me, none. Instead, I have a long list of fees, from “check processing” to “check deposit transaction” fees. Although the fees look harmless, at ten cents a pop, I shudder to think of how that could add up. Without a doubt I’ll be shopping around to see what other banks can offer me

PostHeaderIcon Need points for a debate on schools monitoring student internet use?

I have a school wide debate. I need some points for the debate.

It is on: whether or not schools are right to monitor students internet use.

Points on both sides are appreciated, but I am on the con side, as in they are not right to monitor internet usage.

———————————————————————

Heres What I have so far:
Opening:

Privacy is a long debated issue, and that’s whats at stake here. Every student in this school puts their privacy at risk every time they use the computers. The software can be used for malicious purposes, most importantly reading you email, or chat messages, stealing your passwords for any account you sign into. Not just your school passwords but yahoo, msn, google, anything you type in.

It is not fair to monitor our internet use in this manner. The purpose is to stop us from viewing inappropriate websites, and to protect the computers. Our privacy does not need to be breached to accomplish this.

Questions:

How does the opposing pro speaker feel about his about his and his peer’s privacy being breached every time they use the computers?

Points to bring up:
Just because there’s a guest in your house doesn’t give you the right to go through their things.
We invade everyone’s privacy including those who are doing nothing wrong. Why do we take the approach guilty until proven innocent?
It wastes the valuable time of those using the software, and monitoring the students.
It clogs up the network, it wastes our time, while we wait for the network.

PostHeaderIcon Need Help! Too hard to switch careers from software account management to brand management!?

I feel very helpless like I’m facing a brick wall, so I’d appreciate any professional advice. I have been working in support and account management for 6 years for a financial software company, I got my MBA in marketing and now looking to transition to brand management in consumer product goods. However, I am being rejected everywhere because I’m told that I don’t have marketing experience. I actually do have about 2 years worth of marketing experience for consulting projects at school and also helping with family restaurant marketing. I can’t get more experience because when I apply for a job they say I need experience! It’s like a vicious circle. Please any suggestions to progress my career? Thank you!
