Excelling Arizona Schools Named for 2004-2005 School Year
As with many school systems across the United States, Arizona Schools have several measurement and accountability programs in place to improve student scholastic achievement. One accountability program for the Arizona schools is the AZ LEARNS achievement program. AZ LEARNS holds all Arizona schools accountable for the performance of their students and teachers, measuring performance over several years versus a snapshot one-year measurement. The AZ LEARNS evaluation is based upon four established measurements already required by the Arizona schools. They are:
• AIMS Scores — Measures reading, language arts and mathematics for elementary schools; and reading, writing and mathematics for high schools.
• MAP — Measure of Academic Progress for schools, where students scores for AIMS and SATs are compared to the state average.
• Graduation/Dropout Rates — Used for the high schools.
• AYP — Adequate Yearly Progress measures student proficiency in the state’s academic standards of reading and mathematics over time.
The AZ LEARNS program for the Arizona schools categorizes schools on a graded scale as either:
• Failing to meet academic standards,
• Underperforming,
• Performing,
• Highly Performing, or
• Excelling.

I started a new job through a temp agency, they like me except complained that I didn’t know excel,?
They wanted someone who knows advanced accounting formulas. I’ve taken a class in college (about 4 years ago) on the Microsoft Suite. I learned basic adding formulas, how to make charts, etc I’ve taken tests through staffing agencies that said that I was about average on excel.
My boss also told the temp agency that I didn’t know how to use word also. Yet I have never sent him a word doc. I’ve tested high in word, I have been using word since middle school, and I have a degree in Graphic Design, so I am comfortable using word, and it’s basic features. I know that I am not a super admin pro at it that knows every little feature on it, plus for me I have higher advanced program knowledge of professional desktop software, so I use that. Unless I am just typing a plain letter or so. but I know how to adjust margins, word count, put on page numbers, turn into a web page.. etc
anyways so now I’m afraid that they think that I misrepresented myself
My resume never said anything about accounting. I’ve helped a small business, and myself as a freelancer keep track of invoices, payments, past dues, collections, and purchasing materials, but I have never used excel to keep track of sales, accounting etc. I have used excel to keep track of data, and have herd from past jobs that they really liked the way that I was able to create charts, and organize data in excel, and was very useful for the whole office to be on the same page.
They want to do another test on on excel, (on my free time of course, which I have none with a family, freelance projects, etc)
The temp agency gave me a tutorial. Most of it’s pretty easy, except for in the end when it gets into advanced formulas. The tutorials doesn’t really teach much except for steps to take. I need to know why, why did the makers of excel choose this program to be set up this way, what’s the logic behind it,and I need to find some other advanced online places to
learn these. I also am wondering if I should summon up my Transcripts from college to prove that I did take the course, and also to ask my old temp agency in my old town to dig up my testing records to send over. or would this be looked at as defensive behavior ?
Why do they think that there advanced usage of excel is basic usage?
I should add, that my background is Graphic Design, the job title is “Marketing Assistant”, where my main role is doing graphics, flyers, brochures, catalogs, marketing campaigns, product photography, website updating and maintenance, the only excel docs I see are price sheets, which I import into Indesign ( easy) and some customer / distributors contact list. but they are asking for some pretty intense Graphic Design skills, and I don’t know too many that have HR/accounting background and a Graphic Design background.

How do i stop my computer from asking me to change my password every month?
I have a dell optiplex pc given to me from a school. Unfortunately upon making my own account I deleted all of the other accounts. Including the system admin one, however it still asks me to change my password every month, I have checked for software on the computer that would do this and there is none, so it must have been in the settings in the account i deleted. Is there any way I can stop it asking me to change my password without the sys. admin account?
Modern Accounting For Nonprofit Organizations
Accounting is a task that deals with the process of recording and classifying the financial activities of a business or other similar endeavors. Aside from recording financial events, accounting also encompasses summarizing financial data as well as analyzing and interpreting the results.
A vast majority of institutions use accounting to tally finances. Schools have an accounting department to manage tuition fees, school expenses, and other financial records. Hospitals use accounting to compute hospital bills and donations. Businesses use it to compute income and revenue, as well as taxes and employee wages. The same fundamental principles in accounting apply even for non-profit organizations.
Nonprofit organizations are groups of individuals, who form an incorporated organization wherein the shareholders and trustees do not benefit financially. The organization exists purely for educational or charitable purposes. Any money earned usually comes in the form of donations from benefactors, and these donations are used to finance the organization’s expenses, operations and programs. These donations are basically used to keep the organization running, without the organization’s members receiving any financial profit of any sort, hence the term “nonprofit”.
Many nonprofit organizations these days are involved in providing continuous health care and medical services, such as clinics and hospitals, while some are in the advancement of education like schools, colleges and universities. Other nonprofit organizations include political parties, libraries, labor unions and other civic organizations. These organizations have an important role in society, which is why accounting for nonprofit organizations is equally important.
Despite the lack of income, non-profit organizations still have an inherent need for accounting. Donations need to be accounted for, and expenses need to be recorded. Accounting for nonprofit organizations is important because it allows them to manage donations, record expenses, and present accurate financial reports to their benefactors. Integrity is important if nonprofit organizations want to keep the donations coming in.
Modern technology has improved the way nonprofit organizations perform accounting tasks. Recognizing the need for accuracy and integrity in accounting nonprofit organizations has, the use of accounting software has become inevitable. Several accounting software programs are easily available from the Internet, but before installing the accounting software system nonprofit organizations need to find the software program that will best suit their needs.

Estimating Software
A lot of people my age are PC shy, in other words they are afraid they will break the PC by using it. On the other side of the seesaw are the younger people entering the market place that never knew a world that didn’t have a PC. Most kids today have confidence and experience around PC’s; because, they use them in school, the library and at home, from their early years.
To those smiling bright PC genius’, just skip the next part.
Because time waits for no one, I want to say to people who are PC shy, “get over it” they aren’t going to go away, and you might just find this new tool makes your job easier. Just as we converted several years ago from a miter box saw that used a hand saw to the laser guided compound miter box saws that we use today, we can now just open our minds to the PC as a labor saving tool.
A computer will save you time and be more accurate in creating estimates.
There are bunches of estimating programs out there. I have tried a few, and have returned to my old standby painting Cost Estimator by Craftsman Books. This software is nothing more than a glorified spreadsheet. It doesn’t have any bells and whistles and it is very inexpensive, and is slowly catching up to the modern software inventions such as scrolling with the mouse (about 10 years behind the rest of the world). Still I like it because it is simple and yearly price changes and upgrades are cheap (less than $50). The other reason I like it is that it interfaces directly with my QuickBooks accounting software.
Having tried some very expensive programs and found that they do some things semi-automatically, like add a photo to the estimate, or the ability to use the software in a notebook PC, I haven’t gotten excited enough to make the big change or to pay the price in dollars or in spending a lot of energy in learning new software.
Do you want to make more money and have the freedom to enjoy your life?
